Sometimes innovation starts with somebody flaking on you.
When the animator hired to transform Young Grandmaster Choi into a series of animated dubs suddenly disappeared mid-project, I had two choices: miss my deadline or figure out how to do it myself.
I chose the latter.
What started as a desperate search for a solution became an unexpected crash course in AI filmmaking. Using emerging AI tools, I learned to animate my original comic book artwork, build a digital voice cast, and ultimately transform an entire chapter of Young Grandmaster Choi into a nine-minute animated experience.
The experiment opened up an entirely new way of thinking for me about what independent filmmakers and creators can accomplish with limited budgets, small teams, and a willingness to learn new technology.
