As we continue striving to tell stories that spark laughter, provoke thought, and inspire change, our latest short film, Dick Control, is making waves across Hollywood. Inspired by the real-life events surrounding Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez, the film takes a bold look at misogynoir in hip-hop culture.
Starring Curtis Hamilton (Insecure, Surviving Compton), this 15-minute social impact film tells the story of a rapper cursed by a groupie who also happens to be a witch. Shot in a single day during a COVID surge, the film performed exceptionally well on the festival circuit, winning five awards, including the People’s Choice Award at the Denton Black Film Festival.
Now, Dick Control has been selected for Mometu’s Short Film Contest and is climbing the ranks toward the Top 10. You can support the film by watching and voting here:
Please share this with your friends—and then tell five more! We believe in this movie, and winning this contest would bring us one step closer to turning our proof-of-concept short into a feature film.
